His new album aims to explore the banging, echoing sounds of the club, and all of No No's sounds are recognizable, or at least conceivable. Increasingly, those sounds are drums, or things that sound mostly like drums. Baltimore's Co La belongs to a shrinking group of composers for whom sampling remains a singular muse. Reflecting his involvement in Baltimore's experimental club music scene, Co La's Matthew Papich brings a confrontational energy to No No, his most pointed set of tracks yet. As he combines his hometown's distinctive club music and his fascination with media overload, No No finds Papich's blend of electronics and found sound samples growing crisper and more fragmented this trend started on Moody Coup, but here Papich hones his palette even further and uses it with the intensity of a musical Jackson Pollock. Co La No No, released 09 October 2015 1. Squeeze 2. Shrink 3. Gush 4. No No 5. Noon Blue 6. Suffering Tuesday 7. Barricade 8. Crank 9. Tragedy 10. Fear Baltimores Co La, the creative cloak for Matt Papich, fabricates a club music environment where solidarity and psychosis enmesh. Emerging from the humid undergrowth of 2013s Moody Coup, No No gathers tracks built during the northeastern deep freeze of 2014: sonically these songs are clear & uninsulated: cracking. George Graphy An insane album that is very confusing, and it's amazing like that. It's one of my favorite albums of all time. Favorite track: Tragedy. does anybody else recall Software Records advertising this record as being a run of 100, not 1000, in the months before the release? I could've swore when I pre-ordered the record it was written as 'limited edition of 100'...
